Last month, I bought a new Hot Wheels track set.
Hot Wheels Turbo Tunnel with Turbo Glo cars.
I just took a few videos!
Check out how the car glows in the new charger!
A few trips around the track.
Here is an orange car that we bought separately. Video shot looking down the Tunnel!
Blasting the first target.
Oops. Not enough power to make it to the target
Cool video of the second target launching!
The final target.
Higher resolution video of a target launching system.
The kids got too tired helping dad with the videos so I had to do everything myself.
Here's the review that I did in July...
The car that is included in the Turbo Tunnel playset.
A cool feature of the cars is that they have "Turbo Glo". An LED illuminates the bottom of the cars.
If the technology seems familiar, charging cars with contacts on the base, you are correct. It is similar to the X-V Racers System from a few years back.
Here are pics which show the clear base which allows the LED to cast a glow on the track. An X-V Racer is shown for comparison.
X-V Racers are not compatable with the Turbo Tunnel charging system. The contacts are not in exactly the same position. We could not get an X-V model to charge in the Turbo Tunnel nor could we get the Turbo Glo cars to charge on an X-V Racers hand-held charger.
Here are the other cars previewed on the back of the box.
Instead of using a portable charging base, you insert the car into this contraption. It works quite well. It is on a cantalever. You push it down in the back to get the car to zip into it while in action. While the car is inside, you push down a button to press the car against the charging contacts. After ten seconds, you tilt the contraption forward to let the car back onto the track. Pretty nifty!
The car goes around the figure 8 track loop and then does a single looping trip around the clear Turbo Tunnel, back to the originating track section. You can let the car go around a couple times before you have to charge it again.
The goal of the playset is to push a lever to send the car on the wild, overhead looping track section. The car will hit a lever, possible tripping one of the shooting play pieces. This action may have been done before on the Zero G track set.
The set is rated for ages 5 and up. We got it from Toys R Us for about $40.
Here is another pic from the back of the box for a forthcoming playset.

They are now appearing at Toys R Us and Target.
By the way, Sizzlers won't work on the track set.
