Got this old Lamborghini Murcielago a few months ago for dollar and a half because it was missing all four tires and a driver's side door. This is an early Maisto 1:24 scale model that was made in China versus the later LP640 version, which was made in Thailand. Putting tires on it wasn't a problem, but coming up with a spare door is something else.
Fortunately, I had bought a mint-in-the-box older version a number of years ago, so I 'cheated' in using its door as a pattern to try and make a door for the deficient one. It was a real struggle. The good door is not screwed on to the body, but rather, the factory pinched it in between two metal stubs, making removal possible but not workable again on the new model. Two layers of aluminum foil were draped around the good door to get the basic shape. Then this shape was covered with multiple coats of white glue. Eventually it became strong enough to handle and support itself and to paint. I knew I couldn't match the paint, so I experimented with different colors and finally arrived at covering a flat white latex paint with a green wash. Obviously it is crude, but it is better than no door at all. LOL! The good mirror was used to make an impression in silly putty, and then water putty placed into the resulting mold to form the replacement mirror.
Thanks for looking...
