"JL was pretty much in the toilet and than new life with the 40th series that wallys took in at 2.00$ was a good deal than F64 came in.sales were good cars not on the pegs for long.now from 2.00 to 2.97 and in a months time 3.47.tons of cars staying on the pegs collecting dust.the 2.0 series is pretty good alittle high IMO on the 4.99 price but still a good car and in the same quality of GL who is heading the in JL path by letting TRU set the price at 5.99 for most.in all lines the cars become popular and then the corps start fishing by playing the price games and the only one winning that is mattel but not by too much.everyone else i know has seen a decline in sales."

I was happy with JL all along with the cardboard and the nice little bonuses that came like cards, tokens, stickers etc.  Then the clamshells came along and the bonuses disappeared.  I really had mixed feelings about the clamshells. on the pro side there was less chance of the cars getting damaged, but boy did they ever take up a lot of space.  so much wasted plastic.

I tried to remain optimistic when the 40th Anniv series hit, but the quality was just not there. I remember my first purchase was the black chevelle. When I removed it from the packaging, the car wouldn't sit or roll properly and the back axle had already come away from the base.  Further this was the beginning of the nasty "bling wheels" which I truly despised.  Even the cardboard sucked eggs.  But alas, I haven't purchased anything recently released from JL in a long time, partly due to lack of availability and also because of the price increase.  My money now goes to Code 3 and Hws and Matchbox nowadays.    I think I still have that chevelle somewhere and it might make a good topic for a future blog post.
