It looks like it is time for a thread with some side by side comparisons of similar castings. I can't help because I rarely buy anything but buck cars. LOL Any body interested? gunslinger gary wilcoxthe older JLs from the 90s and early 2000's we a very good quality and worth the mid 2 to 3 $ price range. when they started going to the clam shells around 06 and the price started hitting 5$ the quality whent down in my opinion.wheels, paint did not look as good.
GLs when they came out in 06/07 i think were a very good buy at 3$ than the price creeped up when they got more popular to the 4$.now hitting 5$ plus because TRU is basicaly the only one carrying them they are not worth the money in my opinion and from what i saw of the hollywood on wheels that quality when down there.the hot pursuit and black bandits still look pretty well but 4.99 is still alittle high on the price.when you try to get answers from their rep the posts on here and the one that posts on HT you pretty much get nothing(shockerEek) must have taken the same classes as the Mpire reps.
M2s i believe came out in 08 and were a very good product at the 4.99 and 2.99 price point and even when they got popular the price held til now.once again TRU decieded to gouge and now M2s run 6$ and they are pretty much hanging.not worth the money and it showed with their quality dipping alittle this past year.wheels not looking up to par and opening parts not fitting well.now wallys raiseing their prices to the 5.47 and 3.47 range.the 5.47 is very boarder line on their priemum line in my opinion and their lower drives line now over priced for the quality.drives have been seen by alot of people on the shelves with seperated bases, bad wheels and broken parts so you really really need to choose carefuly.
shelby collectiables when i first got one i thought 4.99 was alittle hight til i opend it than changed my mind.great casting done very well and worth the price.once again since TRU is the only one carrying them that price change a few months back to 6.99.like i said when it happend way over priced now.quality had not changed from what i saw but 7$ is way to high for my pocket since i only7 collect a few of their castings.
jada and miasto stayed pretty much tru to their quality in my eyes.small price raise not bad but alittle high i think but still a good buy.the one draw back is miastos distrubtion, one word SUCKS ! jadas is not that bad.
HWs pretty much has not changed too much except they in their mainlines lowered the quality and raised the price(this was all them notthe retailers)
the higher quality lines have always changed their prices depending on how well they sold and popularty.if we loved it and raved about it we go hosed at the register.the holiday cars and special releases that are basic mainlines in pretty packages were raised up years ago starting with the Bday cars.1$ cars that had RR wheels and everyone loved now got basic looks and an increase to 2$.this years decades cars once again a basic mainline at a 3$ price tag and we still bought them(me included)but we were getting taken at that price range.the classic line showed the Mpire that people would pay inflated prices on a basic car and they flew with it.
MBs have gotten better every year in the mainlines.small increase in price .the higher lines like the super fast/lesney got over priced and pretty much died out.a 1.29 casting in the super fast line that climb as it got more popular ending at 2.99,than came the lesney line at the 2.99 rnage only to shoot up to 3.99 and now is about to die off .what can you say, same company so why not screw up a good line.
