Great pics! As you can see it was overcast with quite a bit of rain earlier in the morning - thus the "drive ups" were fewer than in past. I elected to take pics of "small stuff" this year, as in the past I've posted up pics of the 1:1 cars. There's far more to see like the "fire dept", the old "country store", tons more toys and 1:1 cars - just an incredible amount of stuff. And then there's an auction of running and non-running cars - some really good projects. If you love cars, you have to make this visit - the last Saturday in August. While the Museum at Marymount is open year around, the home is only open to the public once a year on this date. And the really good stuff, including the toys, is at the home! By "home" I mean the actual home, which is surrounded by more than half a dozen large out-buildings, some two-story, crammed literally to the rafters with cars and memorabilia.

If you are ever in the Northwest, drop me a note - I am a member and I'd love to show you around (as time permits.) The Museum is about an hour drive out of Seattle, about 20 minutes from Tacoma. It's open year around, limited hours and days. The home is nearby, but not open to the public except on this one day. You can take the guided tour, or look around yourself if you are a member. Website is at lemaymuseum.org

They should be breaking ground soon on the new faciity near the Tacoma Dome very shortly. They are trying to raise $100 million. They have an agreement with AAA, and it's disignated "America's Car Musuem." The LeMay is reportedly the largest car collection in the world by numbers. Harold LeMay made his fortune by collecting garbage and recycling. He had contracts around the country, and anytime he'd see an interesting car or hulk or collecible across the country, he'd ship it back to Tacoma. He's passed away - but his wife is still alive. Reportedly her last gift to him, just before he died, was a Tucker, which is fully restored and on display at the Musuem.
