Posts: 1869 (06/26/08 08:41 PM) 1:18th Custom King Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	This was a ERTL diecast 1:18th kit.. picked it up for 20 at a swap meet.. put some stockers off a 1970 chevelle onto it casue the whitewalls that were in the kit were lame and here is the engine and intereior before i started. start of the engine.. not nearly complete and now for the interior Painted it white.. accented the white seats with green piping (piping is sewing thread) Car color is going to be the pearl green on the door panels and dash (its a hard top) and im goign to do the top white I also am going to do some green underglows since the trunk doesnt open so i have room for a batterie pack.. i will update when possible.

Your wheel choice is superb. The work you have done on the seats is remarkable. It sure looks realistic. Do you use white glue to attach the thread? Are you using bare metal foil for the chrome accents? And the engine is done in a first-class manner. I really like the detail of the fasteners painted silver, the wiring and the crispness of the paint job. Finally, a 1964 Chevy is one fine-looking car to begin with. Done up like this, it will be a knock-out!!!

One comment though. If you are trying for realism, take a second look at the plug wires. I think they are a tad out of scale. You shouldn't have any trouble finding something finer in an appropriate color. I have seen some yellow with black markings on 1/18ths that look exactly like real silicones. Posts: 4565 (07/01/08 06:41 PM) Customs R Us Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I scrounge wire by taking apart stuff like computer drives, CD and Tape Players and all sorts of small electronics stuff. The finest wire I have found for small scale stuff is "wrapping wire" from Radio Shack. It comes in red and blue and a third color.... maybe white? It actually may be too small for 1/18th. If you have a Hobby Lobby, look at the bead wire. If you go the salvage route, be sure to save the stuff with braided insulation. It works great for radiator hoses, reinforced power steering and air conditioner hoses and can be flattened to be negative batter wires. I found a huge glob discarded near the phone company that has about a thousand colors in it. It seems to be about the perfect thickness for plug wires.

My son used to go to the hobby shop and buy pre-wired distrubutors to put in his cars, you might look there if you have a hobby store near you....they were a bit pricey as I remember though....just a thought.
